Women’s Approach

Women who are employed in a manufacturing business should have at least the basic idea about material handling systems as these systems play a vital role in making the business operations more efficient and less costly.

Many companies make the mistake of leaving their female employees in the gray when it comes to the topic about manufacturing processes, machineries, and the systems being used. More often than not, women employees are limited to job positions involving sales, paperwork, creativity, management, and research. Many people do not perceive this as a kind of discrimination as women are not much inclined into wanting to operate massive and complex material handling systems such as conveyor systems, sortation systems, picking systems and labeling systems. Yet, little do they know that making their female employees understand the nature of the manufacturing processes has certain advantage.

Men and women tend to approach certain situations in different ways. Men usually use direct approach in resolving problems and concerns while women generally prefer studying the concerns and weighing all possible consequences. Thus, when problems arise in the manufacturing processes, men are likely to immediately inspect the machines and systems for errors and malfunction while women are likely to dig deeper problems such as the organization in the work place, fault in techniques and inability to follow proper procedures in order to keep the problem from arising again.
