Quality professional kitchens require quality professional tools and equipment. A kitchen needs some quality appliances, whether it is an actual commercial kitchen or a residential kitchen owned by an enthusiastic chef. Especially if the owner of the kitchen expects to produce exquisite, delicious cuisine, the kitchen has to be installed with reliable, top quality products such as a professional range, durable mixers, good knives, and other tools.

A designer or builder of professional kitchens must focus on quality and not quantity. He must avoid the plethora of gadgets available in the market and focus more on choosing durable, solid kitchen tools that can meet the demands of fast-paced commercial cooking. More often than not, professional kitchens have professional ranges with at least six burners and two ovens. A professional gas range can be considered as the workhorse of the professional kitchen since it is the most frequently used equipment when cooking or baking food. Professional gas ranges can use either propane or natural gas. Most professionals see gas ranges as superior to electric stoves because of the more easily controlled temperature and the intensity of cooking heat. Electric stoves take time to increase or reduce heat when it is changed while gas ranges responds to heat controls immediately.

Aside from professional ranges, professional kitchens also have other tough appliances such as a blender for making sauces and mixers for baking. An automated dishwasher is a must for a commercial kitchen since it goes through an enormous number of dishes on a regular basis. Professional kitchens can also have a walk-in freezer where frozen foods are kept.
